Bio
Montreal choreographer/performer Sarah Bild follows an intuitive stream of physical imagery to create deeply textured and organic works of dance. Her visually impressive solo and group works, presented for the last 30 years in venues and festivals across Canada, raise questions about the human presence on this planet.

In 2015, her 50+ project addressed the representation of the aging female body on stage. This work brought her investigations inward to reclaiming her own body through improvisation in performance.

In 2016, Sarah Bild began performing her research in outdoor locations. Her Wall Series (2017) was presented along a wall in Montreal's Mile-End district as part of the T/S Festival. With She Wanted (2019), an intimate piece around a table for only two spectators at a time, Bild shares a personal story evoking motherhood, art practice and fleeting time. She presented the work close to 60 times between January and June 2019.

In 2020-21, she dug into family roots and sense of place with her performance and photographic project, Le Poids du lieu, inhabiting derelict urban and rural spaces.

Sarah Bild is the first improviser certified to teach Action Theater in Quebec. She is part of the faculty at l'École de danse contemporaine de Montréal and is invited to teach and choreograph in many training programs across Canada.
